Thirty-five members of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at Mississippi State are dedicating a part of their Christmas break to work with Habitat for Humanity in Bay Saint Louis, MS and continue to help with the rebuilding efforts of areas hit hard by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

This will be the fourth annual trip to the coast for the chapter, and as done in the past, the chapter will pay for lodging and stay at the Lagniappe Church for the duration of the trip, January 3-5.

"It's a big deal to us, being able to come down here and work with Habitat for Humanity," Public Relations Chairman Jonathan Barden said. "We have members in our chapter from Gulfport, Bay St. Louis, and Ocean Springs, all of which were areas hit hard by Hurricane Katrina so it means a lot to us to be able to come back and continue to help with the rebuilding efforts. It has been a very humbling experience for everyone involved, and we're very hopeful other organizations will continue to help out as well."

Over the past three years, the fraternity has sent over 120 members to continue to help rebuild the hard-hit Bay St. Louis area. This year, yet another group has signed on to assist the local Habitat for Humanity organization. In two days, chapter members will provide over 500 work hours for low-income families in need of housing.
