And your Parents Association has also had a strong year with record paid membership and attendance at the fall meeting, and support of the Chapter through another successful Fall Rush Dinner, completion of Phase I of the landscaping master plan, and the purchase of additional chairs for the dining room and a microwave/cart for the men’s use when the kitchen is not accessible.

I’d like to say a special “thank-you” to two volunteers who have worked tirelessly for this organization the last few years and who will be leaving us due to their sons’ graduations: Bess Corbitt, who most recently has served as Secretary and Mom’s Club Vice-Chair, and Jerry Ables, Treasurer. You two really played a tremendous role in the development and growth of this organization and will certainly be missed! Thanks also to Wesley Eubanks, Vice President, who due to other commitments has also indicated the need to step down. And while I’m thanking folks, we can never express enough thanks to John Genin, our Alumni Advisor and full-time liaison to the Parents Association, for ALL he does year after year.

Now – with the above mentioned departures I need your help. At the Spring Meeting, we will be electing four new officers:

Vice President - Handles the printing and distribution of the Phi Delt Directory. John Genin provides the original document and you are reimbursed by the Association for any printing or mailing expenses that you incur. In an effort to create continuity and promote a smooth transition from year to year, we ask that the V.P. step into the president’s position at the end of his tenure.

Secretary - Maintains/promotes communication within our organization through the Blues News and the follow-up emails to our spring & fall meetings. Don’t be intimidated by the newsletter – You simply type it up in a WORD document, e-mail it to the printer (who produces the final product, already folded and ready to be mailed), affix the labels (provided by John Genin) and the stamps and put in the mail!!! You are reimbursed by the Association for any expenses incurred. There is a wonderful, detailed notebook of instructions available (courtesy of Bess), and she is always just a phone call away.

Treasurer - Collect dues, maintain current list of paid members, and make deposits/record disbursements/maintain group’s checking account. Provide annual report of revenue/expense at fall meeting.

Mom’s Club Vice-Chair – assists Chair in organization of Association’s social functions (Rush Dinner and spring/fall meetings) and, ideally, would step into Chair at end of her tenure.

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE, step up and assume these roles and let’s keep our association strong for the Chapter. Call or e-mail me to volunteer your assistance in any position.
